Alright... so the time has finally come. I'm gonna just call it right here. As we speak, I'm backing up everything on the server. This could take up to a day to finish. There are two major things on the horizon for the server. Come August 1st, the server may go offline. I'm not trying to be dramatic, but so it goes. If this happens, the server will come back on eventually. Please have patience if this occurs.
The second, more important, more exciting, less doomsday-ish thing is that all mods are ready for the server to update to 1.7.10! I realized this today while browsing the modpack. It also looks like this will be the last update before waiting x amount of days for 1.8, and honestly, thank god!
So, that's that. The move to 1.7.10 is gonna be a bit bumpy and will take place over the next few weeks. I'm going to conduct as many tests as I can client side to try and anticipate potential problems before moving the server. The most important mods, in my opinion, are ExtraTIC, CustomNPCs, Tinkers, and Metallurgy. They all seem to have protocols in place to prevent data loss from 1.6.4 to 1.7.10. But, to be frank, this server is really fucking heavily modded. Almost every mod has been used in a quest, in a build, or by users in some way or another. So, again, each and every mod on the server now will be in 1.7.10(except probably Dynamic Lights because all it does is lag everything to hell) and it's gonna be bumpy! I'll do everything I can to prevent data loss.
Any suggestions are wholly welcome and wanted.
ALSO, if you have any requests for mods you'd like to see in 1.7.10, now is the time to voice that opinion!

Manan just recommended Mo' Creatures. He said he can talk to you about it at some point, some of the spawn rates are iffy and some of the creatures grief.

I thought about adding Mo' Creatures before. Unfortunately, the author forbids putting it in mod packs no matter what. :/ It's the first FAQ. poop

Ah, that sucks. Besides that, then, we didn't have any recommendations. I don't know if there's any other good mob packs like that out there, but it's not a big deal. The Twilight Forest already has a host of new mobs, anyways.

More mob packs are a good idea. They definitely liven up the world. I'll take a look around and see if I can't find alternatives. I haven't looked at mods in a while so I'm kind of curious if there's anything new in 1.7

Crap, we have a problem. ExtrabiomesXL and ObsidianPlates have not been updated to 1.7.1. I definitely overlooked that one. Those are the only two.

No, I haven't touched the server. I won't until I'm certain I won't break anything. This just means that if we want to update to 1.7.10 we're gonna have to leave extrabiomesxl behind or wait some more.
If we leave extrabiomesxl behind, we'd have to reboot the wildlands. The adventure world would stay intact.
I always knew Extrabiomes would screw us over one day. Biomes o'Plenty is far better. But, I don't know, something to think about.
EDIT: Though I can tell you, playing 1.7.10 forge with all the updates over the past 8 months on all the mods feels very good. I'll upload a test version of the modpack tonight if anyone wants to try it client side.

Well, I don't mind losing the wildlands so much, and Manan wants to start fresh anyways. It'd be nice to refresh the world with some of the update stuff anyways, especially if Biomes o'Plenty works out.
So I guess then the only things I'd recommend adding are some sort of overworld mobs, and maybe overworld dungeon generation? I don't know if it would work out as well with Biomes o'Plenty, though. I also think resetting the Twilight Forest would be a good idea, because we've looted most of it already, and any new players would find it hard to come across any unexplored dungeons. As far as I know, nobody has a house there anyways.

Is metallurgy not done yet for the 1.7.x? i still havent found a non beta mod pack yet (or my nose is not big enough ) If there are any changes to some of the modpacks than more mobs would be nice indeed, brings more to do i think myself btw, the Tconstruct is the most important modpack indeed, that is just bringing just some nice things in the game.

And, I mean, to be honest, this update doesn't happen any time soon without a refresh. So, I hope you guys are okay with this. Biomes o'plenty would definitely replace ExtrabiomesXL. I've noticed over the past few months that BoP updates much faster and I personally enjoy their biome variations more than EBXL. Would probably be best to reset the nether, twilight, and the wilderness if we reset anything. And quaint, metallurgy is updated. It's called Metallurgy 4 though, so that might be where you got tripped up. Preliminary tests of transferring the server to 1.7.10 show that everything transfers over just fine. There's a small blip with Underground Biomes that I'm reading up on how to fix. The good news is it seems to be fixable, so I will report back on that. All the special combinations of weapons I made with TiC and Metallurgy transfer over just fine, including raw materials, ingots, casts, buckets of molten metal, etc,etc, everything. However, Metallurgy 4 does away with a few things: lamps, chests, glass, the never finished tartarite enchanter and the machines have been slimmed down too. All my stuff in silver chests was gone, so you'll want to stop using those immediately if you want to save anything into the transfer. No more do you make crushers by combining more metal on top of pre-existing machines. Which I thought was stupid and lazy design any way. So yeah, I just really want to emphasize this, if you are using metallurgy chests, get your items out of them and put them in vanilla chests or you will lose everything inside of them. If we refresh the server, I'd like to offer you guys some land somewhere in Super Massive where you can either build your own places and/or store anything you want to transfer over into the new world. Whenever I'm on, one of these days, point out where you want and you can pretty much take it and you'll have that land for the rest of the time the server is a server. So, that's everything for now. I'll post again later tonight if I figure anything new and exciting out. Oh yeah, also, I previously said we were updating to 1.7.1, well, I didn't know it but what I meant was 1.7.10, because 1.7.1 doesn't exist apparently. I was just reading shit wrong.

Thanks for the tip btw for the chests! And i guess so, the metallurgy i got before for 1.7.2 was a beta one so thats why i said it. And for what i saw the Biomes's O plenty is a nice one with much different sorts of biomes and i sees quite nicely! For what you say with pointing out a piece of land is i think good enough to get my resources over and build something decent instead of my little cramped hideout

Just to be clear - we are resetting the survival worlds, so if we have things in the metallurgy chests that are being removed it won't matter anyway because all the inventories are being cleared out? Or are we keeping inventories and just resetting the world made with the old generation? I'd personally like to have everyone start completely fresh, but if the inventories won't be reset then I don't want to be left behind, either.
