It's an interesting problem. Basically, if you're not running the same version of forge as the server, you can't connect. You get that error that says "Packet was larger than expected". Who'd a thunk? I was informed of it in this thread here. But our server is running forge version 1199, and I am running 1190. Obviously, I have no problem logging in. It got me thinking. What versions of forge do you all run? Also, got me realizing THIS is almost certainly the reason other people haven't been joining. It also explains why you guys reported occasionally seeing people join for a split second and then get kicked.

i'm running on forge version 1209, with the latest i really cannot get minecraft to work, so its 1209 for me and running smoothly EDIT: just read the other forum and that guy had the same problem i had the other day, my computer crashed due to a memory bank had broken down so now only running on 4gigs at the moment, so i installed it all back and the latest forge, but the 1217 will not work with the mod pack! 1209 is the latest that will work with the mods. Maybe its something to be said with the download link too

Yeah, I reuploaded the modpack with instructions that suggest using forge 1190, because that's what I use and I have no problems. I also changed all the threads but it's a really strange issue.

Maybe putting the right forge in the modpack aswell, maybe that is an idea to do?
