Welcome to the Server News Letter thread!
Long Needed Updates and Bug Fixes
2/22/2015
First off, I'd like apologize for my absence over the last month, I updated the server and left it riddled with bugs, that's kind of uncool. But I'm back and I'm fixing whatever bugs I can find. I've started by making the decision to remove Lycanite mobs. I realize it may have been updated and fixed during my absence, but the reality is the mod is a bulky, consistently buggy, bog-on-gameplay mess and I'm kind of tired of trying to fix it by tinkering with its hundreds of lines of configurations. No amount of optional configuration settings can make a bad mod any good, at least that's my two cents. The good news is I believe the mod is modular, so I will consider in the future adding only the mobs we like from it. Right now, though, I'm focused on making the server playable again.
That said, most everything is returned to normal. NPCs will open their shops again, mobs can be fought no matter the region, and protection stones should be working again. It turns out the WorldGuard we updated to was a beta version in preparation for Mojang's name change update. Because of this, protection stones no longer recognize the player that originally placed them, they must be removed by an OP'd player and replaced. Either me or Kab can do this for you, you'll have to catch us while we're online or request a time to meet us online. I'll be available most of the time so feel free to shoot me, drenrin, a PM and we'll work something out.
There are likely more bugs, but the majority has been resolved and I will be around to address any recurring problems. Sorry for the inconvenience and massive delay in response.
What the hell is this?
Hello, drenrin2120 reporting for the Super Massive Tribune! I had a fantastically simple but effective idea. There isn't any place really to post regular updates that get people's attention and allow for player's to comment. So I'll be publishing monthly (to start) update threads. I will periodically update the thread through out the month with dates to help reader's navigate through the topics by time of implementation. All complete with wonderfully cheesy titles for all the articles!
Lycanite Mobs Strike Again!
1/15/15
After updating the ModPack to 3.1, Lycanite mobs massive configuration files were once again reset. This required going in and re-configuring all the stats and griefing capabilities of the mobs. A few new mobs have also shown to be a grave problem for the server. Chupacabra were recently introduced with the latest version of Lycanites and boy are they a nasty menace! They recover their health with each bite, have a long range, move faster than the player can run, and have a hit rate somewhere around every half a second. Needless to say, Chupacabras have been severely nerfed. Every single one of their stats has been cut nearly in half.
If you encounter any problems or feel Lycanites Mobs are still severely overpowered, please let us know and we'll see what we can do!
Super Massive Modpack 3.1 and Forge 1230
1/12/15
Major updates through out the server! Without getting into too many boring details, the server's main jar has been updated to a Cauldron version 1240. We are recommending users install the latest stable version of forge as of the date of this posting, that version being 1230. Because of these changes, all mods have been updated to their latest version. No more NPCs dropping yellow hearts. More Lycanite mobs. Tons of fixes to Tinkers Construct. This means bug fixes and new content across the board! See you server side!
Metallurgy 4 Config File Receives News Year Facelift
1/4/15
I should have done this a looooong time ago. I've finally made it so putting the time into collecting rare ores and making armor with them is now actually worth your time. I've increased the armor protection values for all rare M4 ores. I attempted to make them more durable too, but I was unable to. Either the config option I think is in control of that value doesn't work properly, or I have no idea what it's actually used for. I'll be looking into it because I reeeeallly want to give Tartarite Armor an awesomely high durability rate for the armor. Currently, a Tartarite chestplate has somewhere around 480 durability points. I never understood that. It should definitely be much higher given the rarity and strength of the material, even with default configs.
Regardless here are what new armor defense points should be. Defense points constitute a rough estimate of damage reduced from attacks. More ores will be added to the list as they are edited.
Vanilla Diamond For comparison
full set armor points: 20
Mithril
full set armor points: 26
Eximite*
full set armor points: 29
Atlarus
full set armor points: 34
Adamantine
full set armor points: 38
Tartarite
full set armor points: 46
Desichalkos*
full set armor points: 54
*Rarest ore. Cannot be bought or sold anywhere. Currently, Eximite and Meutoite, needed to make Desichalkos, have an extremely rare chance of spawning in the regular overworld.
There is more Metallurgy 4 tweaking to come!
Lycanite Mobs Get the Leash
1/4/15
Tired of getting sneak attacked by lava mobs? Or kidnapped by those pesky rocs? Or scared half to death by untimely phantoms? Or mauled by packs of ocean mobs? Well, fear no more! Lycanite mobs is getting the leash! Starting today, Rocs no longer spawn. Anywhere. Besides being annoying, they also pose a griefing hazard to the server. Using teleport commands while in the clutches of the Roc is known to crash the server and prevent the player from logging back on without crashing the server again.
Lycanite mobs who require lava, a portal, fire, water, or events(such as killing a mob/player or mining)to spawn have had their spawn rates severely curbed. Sometimes as much as a factor of 10. Take this for example. Lycanite mobs spawn by a predetermined chance per tick or event. There are 20 ticks per second. Efreet use to spawn with a chance of 0.05% per tick. As low as that seems, the actual numbers break down to 1 spawn event per 2000 ticks, or every 100 seconds, since 0.05% represents 5/10000, or 1/2000. To combat this, some spawning rates have been reduced to as low as 0.001%, 1/100000 ticks.
But have no fear, your favorite Lycanite mobs are still sure to appear and harass the pants off your blocky little legs as most mobs still spawn by biomes and use normal weighted chance to determine spawn rates.
